In a wedding invitation, how do you ask for cash instead of gifts?

And where should this appear in the invitation package (main invitation, response card, directions page, or a separate page)?

Im suprised by most of these answers, i didnt realize that wishing wells werent something that alot of people do anymore, cos in Australia, this is the most common type of wedding gift these days with most couples cohabitating and having everything they need prior to the wedding. What we do here, is on the main invitation (sometimes printed on the back or even just an additional slip inside done nicely of course), have a wishing well poem such as this :

More than just kisses so far we've shared
Our home has been made with love and care
Most things we need we’ve already got
Like a toaster and kettle, pans and pots

A wishing well we thought would be great
(but only if you wish to participate)
A gift of money is placed in the well
Then make a wish … but do not tell

Once we’ve replaced the old with the new
We can look back and say it was thanks to you!

And in return for your kindness we’re sure
that one day soon you'll get what you wished for!

That makes it a nice way to kindly ask for cash instead of gifts. Of course though, it is only if they wish to participate, but i cant imagine how rude someone would be to go to a wedding and not participate in the wishing well. Best of luck!
